QUICK FACTS
Company description:
A fast-growing, Boston-based biomedical company, TEI Biosciences has applied its expertise in regenerative medicine to develop and commercialize a suite of novel biologic products for a broad spectrum of soft tissue repair and reinforcement applications, including:
- Dura, tendon, and hernia repair
- Pelvic floor reconstruction
- Wound management
- Plastic and reconstructive surgery
TEI products offer compelling advantages:
- They are packaged dry and have a three-year shelf life at room temperature
- Can be trimmed to size wet or dry and placed in any orientation, with either side up
- Rehydrate in saline solution in about 60 seconds
- Provide superior handling and suturing characteristics – feel like natural tissue and readily conform to the surgical sites
TEI derives its products from fetal bovine dermis, one of the purest forms of collagen, using a proprietary process that preserves the beneficial properties of the natural collagen matrix. Biocompatible, cell-friendly, and intrinsically strong with no artificial chemical crosslinking, TEI devices are designed to promote rapid cell penetration and revascularization. They act as a scaffold that can be naturally and progressively integrated, remodeled, and eventually replaced by functional host tissue. Today, TEI has seven FDA-cleared products based on its proprietary biologic-matrix technology that it sells directly and through partnerships with some of the world's leading medical device companies: Medtronic Neurosurgery (Durepair®); Boston Scientific (Xenform®), and Stryker Orthopaedics (TissueMend®).

Growth Strategy:
TEI's mission is to continue its pioneering work in the field of tissue repair and regeneration through the development of new biologic devices. Future devices may carry active agents for fighting infections or managing pain. They may also be enhanced with human cells or growth factors designed for faster and more complete tissue regeneration.
More than sixty employees strong, TEI Biosciences has an accomplished team of scientists, engineers, product development managers, manufacturing operators, QC/QA specialists, and sales/marketing professionals
